The Group List button near the bottom of the window lists all fonts in a group in their own typefaces. - Words/Characters Radio Buttons: The radio buttons allow you to choose between display modes. You can display words or the font's keyboard characters. You can also type or drag in any text you want into the text field. - Store/Restore Buttons: This button allows you to store the current font, style and text. Then at any time you can restore the text field contents to these setting by clicking the Restore button - Font Size Popup: Choose the font size for the display. - The Disclosure Triangle: Clicking the disclosure triangle reduces the window size for compact font browsing. - New Group Button: Click to clear any selected group from the list (the group is not deleted) and make room for a new group to be created. - Add to Group Button: Select fonts in the system fonts list. Then click this button to add the selected fonts to the current group. Fonts can also be dragged from the system fonts list to the current group list. - Font Name Button: Use this button to get the name of the selected text's font. Handy when dragged or pasted in text is in an unknown font. - Shrinking the Window: Click on the disclosure triangle up near the question mark button to shrink the window to a more compact size for quick font browsing. - Online Help: Click the "?" button or choose Fontz Help from the Help menu. - The Style Menu: Use this menu to apply bold, italic, or underline styling to selected text. You can also choose a color for selected text from this menu. - Drag and Drop: Text can be dragged into the text field from other applications. Selected text can also be dragged from the text field to another application. <A NAME="anchor26321"></A>The File Menu: - Open Group: load an existing group into the group list. Using the popup menu is quicker. - Save Group: save changes to an edited group. - Save Group As...: save a new group or save an existing group with a different name. - Open Text: Import a text file into the text field - Saving The Text: You can save the contents of the text field to a text file by choosing Save Text As... from the File menu. - Print: Prints the current contents of the text field. - Quit: Quits The Fontz <A NAME="anchor27260"></A>Browsing Fonts: Use the up and down arrow keys to browse the active list. To activate a list click in the list anywhere. You can also click the little up and down buttons to browse through the selected list. <CENTER> </CENTER> <A NAME="anchor28113"></A>The Fontz Group Maker <CENTER><IMG SRC="../Graphics/grouper.jpg" WIDTH="546" HEIGHT="362" ALIGN="BOTTOM" BORDER="0" NATURALSIZEFLAG="3"></CENTER> <A NAME="anchor28835"></A>Creating a Group: To create a group simply click on the row of the font you wish to add to your group, then click the Add button. The font will be displayed in the Group List (on the right) and, in the System Fonts List, the selected row will turn to blue to let you know you have added it to the Group List. To speed things up click the AutoAdd checkbox. Now when you click on a row in the System Fonts List the font is automatically added to the Group List. <A NAME="anchor29505"></A>Saving a Group: Click the Save Group button to save a new or edited group. <A NAME="anchor30087"></A>Other Features: - The Capital "A" Button: This button brings up the text entry dialog. Here you enter the text you wish to use in the displayed lists. - Text Size Popup Menu: Choose the size of the text displayed. - The Clear Button: Clears all fonts in the Group List. - The Printer Icons: Click to print the list below the icon (ie. the system fonts or the group fonts). <CENTER> </CENTER> <A NAME="anchor30826"></A>The Fontz Viewer <CENTER><A HREF="../../../../../../Desktop%20Folder/movedbtn"><IMG SRC="../Graphics/viewerBtn" WIDTH="354" HEIGHT="434" NATURALSIZEFLAG="0" ALIGN="BOTTOM" BORDER="0"></A></CENTER> <A NAME="anchor31548"></A>Purpose: This window allows you to browse your groups or the system fonts in their own typefaces. Click a font in the list to see its name displayed in the text field above the list. <A NAME="anchor32080"></A>Features: - The Color Box: Clicking this box brings up the color picker, allowing you to choose a color for the displayed text. - The Capital "A" Button: This button brings up the text entry dialog. Here you enter the text you wish to use in the displayed lists. - The System Fonts Button: Click to have all installed system fonts displayed. - The Popup Menu: Choose a group to display - The Size Popup: Choose the size of the displayed text - The Radio Buttons: Change the text to Uppercase, Lowercase, Titlecase, or No case. - The Printer Icon: Prints the displayed list. - The Mark Checkbox: Click to color clicked lines to blue. This feature allows you to mark a set of fonts, for any reason you may have, that can then be saved as a text list to your desktop. - The Unmark Button: Unmarks all marked rows in the list. To unmark a single font control-click on the line. - The Save Button: Saves the marked fonts to a text list on the desktop. - The Style Menu: You can change any selected row to bold, underline, italic, or plain text. You can also select a color for the selected row from this menu. - The AutoScroll Controls: Scroll Delay Slider: Use this to slow the scrolling speed in 10th of a second or whole second increments. Popup Menu: select either '1/10 secs' or 'seconds' for the scroll delay increment Scroll Button: Start and stop scrolling. Reverse Checkbox: Reverse the direction of scrolling. <A NAME="anchor32728"></A>The Group Editor The Group Editor allows you to work with two groups at once making it possible to edit or combine the items in any two groups in several ways. All operations are pretty much self explanatory. <A NAME="anchor33224"></A>Other Important Info <A NAME="anchor33722"></A>Deleting a Group: To delete a group choose Delete Group... from the Options menu. A dialog appears allowing you to select the group to delete. <A NAME="anchor34295"></A>The Font Links: Choose the Font Links menu item from the Options menu. This brings up the Font Links window with hotlinks to some premier Macintosh font web sites. <A NAME="anchor34962"></A>Preferences: Choose Preferences from the Edit menu. - Choose the window size for startup - Choose whether to display words or characters at startup - Choose the behavior for closing the main window (quit or shrink to a floating button) - Choose the default font size <A NAME="anchor35511"></A>Shareware The Fontz is shareware. Shareware allows you to try a product before paying for it. If you find The Fontz useful, please pay for it by using the Register program in The Fontz folder. The Fontz costs $10. <A NAME="anchor36358"></A>Why Register? In the unregistered version, a registration window pops up each time you start the program. Registering The Fontz stops the registration window from appearing at startup. In the unregistered version you can save and work with only two groups. Moreover, by registering The Fontz you will feel good about yourself for supporting shareware and you will be encouraging To The Point Software to keep developing shareware for the Macintosh community. <A NAME="anchor36926"></A>How Do I Register? Just use the Register program included with The Fontz. As soon as we receive notification of your registration we will send you your personal registration code. You then select "Register..." from the Options menu and enter your name and code. Be sure to enter your name and code exactly as they appear on the registration confirmation that we send you.
